Application Of Biodegradable Materials In Orthognathic Surgery
Summarizing the experience of using biodegradable materials in orthognathic surgery, and introducing a mortise and tenon structure which can enhance the retention stability. The clinical data of patients who received orthognathic surgery from the orthognathic Trauma Team of the Oral and maxillofacial Department of Stomatology, Affiliated Stomatology Hospital of China Medical University from 2018 to 2025 were retrospectively analyzed. In all patients, the upper jaw was fixed with biodegradable materials, and mortise and tenon structures were used to enhance stability. All the operations were successfully completed, and the postoperative follow-up proved that the effect was stable. The application of mortise and tenon technology enhances the stability of absorbable materials in maxillary fixation in orthognathic surgery and expands its application range.
