Efficacy Of Customized Labial Appliances In Non-Extraction Mild Crowding
To assess the efficacy of customized labial orthodontic appliances in individuals with mild dental crowding undergoing non-extraction treatment. Twenty-three Class I malocclusion patients with mild anterior crowding underwent non-extraction treatment using Insignia customized labial appliances. Pre-treatment, target-position, and post-treatment 3D digital models were analyzed for maxillomandibular arch width/torque variations. Expansion efficiency calculations and paired t-tests determined inter-phase differences. Post-treatment maxillomandibular arch widths increased significantly versus baseline (P<0.05), achieving target dimensions (P>0.05). Expansion efficiency peaked at maxillary first premolars (U4) and mandibular second premolars (L5), while lowest at first molars bilaterally. Torque comparisons revealed significant pretreatment-target differences at most positions except mandibular molars (P<0.05), with final torque values matching targets except at maxillary second premolars (P>0.05). Interocclusal comparisons showed differential expansion significance across anteroposterior segments (U4/L6: P<0.05; others: NS). Insignia-customized labial appliances achieved target-aligned arch expansion in non-extraction treatment of mild anterior crowding with harmonious facial profiles, though differential efficiency patterns emerged across dental quadrants. Long-term stability necessitates further longitudinal evaluation.
