Risk Factors Of Childhood Caries Treatment Under General Anesthesia
To comprehensively evaluate the success rate, secondary caries, recurrent caries, and risk factors for childhood caries treatment under general anesthesia. PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, CNKI, WanFang, and VIP were comprehensively searched. The influencing factors were measured using weighted mean difference (WMD) or odds ratio (OR) values and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) as statistics, and subgroup analysis was conducted in terms of different treatments. Totally, 28 studies were included involving 8333 children with early caries. The pooled 6-, 12-, 18-, 24-, and 36-month success rate were 97.3%, 94.2%, 90.6%, 78.9%, and 80.1% respectively; the pooled rate of 6-, 12-, 18-, and 24-month secondary caries were 0.8%, 2.3%, 2.4%, and 37.6%, respectively; the pooled rate of 6-, 12-, and 24-month recurrent caries were 15.8%, 41.3%, and 42.7%, respectively. The success rate for anterior teeth was significantly lower than that for posterior teeth. Anterior teeth had a significantly lower success rate than posterior teeth in patients undergoing pulpotomy. The resin filling group had a significantly lower success rate than the resin strip crown group. The resin filling group had a significantly lower success rate than the stainless steel crown (SSC) group. Clinicians should gain a profound understanding of the characteristics of early childhood caries treatment, taking into account factors such as tooth position and selecting appropriate restorative materials, to formulate corresponding preventive and intervention measures to elevate the success rates of early childhood caries treatment.
