Mind Mapping And Teach-Back In Pediatric Preoperative Education
To explore the effectiveness of mind mapping combined with the teach-back health education model in preoperative education for children undergoing general anesthesia surgery, compared with traditional verbal education. A total of 120 children who underwent general anesthesia surgery from 2022 to 2023 were randomly divided into a control group (traditional education) and an observation group (mind mapping combined with teach-back), with 60 cases each. Questionnaires and the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) were used to evaluate education outcomes, anxiety levels, and satisfaction. Data were analyzed using SPSS 22.0, with t-tests for continuous variables and χ² tests for categorical variables. The observation group scored significantly higher in knowledge mastery (average 90 vs. 72, P<0.05) and showed a greater reduction in preoperative SAS scores (54 to 36, P<0.05). Satisfaction in the observation group was 95%, significantly higher than the control group’s 75% (P<0.05). Mind mapping combined with teach-back significantly improves preoperative education outcomes, enhances knowledge retention, reduces anxiety, and increases satisfaction. It is recommended for widespread use in preoperative education for children undergoing general anesthesia surgery.
