Intravenous Deep Sedation In Pediatric Dental Treatment: Nursing Experience

To explore nursing techniques for pediatric dental treatment under intravenous deep sedation and establish a safe nursing protocol. A retrospective analysis was conducted on 160 cases of pediatric dental treatment under intravenous deep sedation. Key aspects such as preoperative preparation, intraoperative coordination, technical essentials, vital signs monitoring, perioperative complications, and postoperative follow-up outcomes were summarized. Critical nursing protocols to ensure surgical safety were proposed, and standardized nursing workflows were developed. Through rigorous preoperative screening and assessment, comprehensive preparation, and seamless collaboration among dentists, nursing staff, and anesthesiologists, all procedures were successfully completed without severe respiratory complications such as hypoxia or intense coughing. All patients recovered smoothly postoperatively. Standardized preoperative evaluation, preparation, intraoperative teamwork, and postoperative follow-up ensure the safe implementation of non-intubated intravenous deep sedation for pediatric dental treatment in outpatient settings, with minimal complications. Qualified training for outpatient nurses and standardized nursing protocols play vital roles in the safe and successful completion of such procedures.
