A Case Report Of Autogenous Tooth Transplantation
This case report describes the transplantation of the left upper third molar (tooth 28) into the extraction socket of tooth 36 to evaluate post-transplant healing outcomes. A young male patient presented with a residual crown of tooth 36. During treatment, the residual crown of tooth 36 and the impacted tooth 28 were extracted. Tooth 28 underwent retrograde preparation and retrograde filling at the root apex before being transplanted into the socket of tooth 36. A crown restoration was performed on tooth 36 three months post-transplantation for clinical evaluation. Conventional treatment for such cases typically involves tooth extraction followed by implant placement. However, this case achieved favorable clinical outcomes by transplanting the third molar into the extraction socket of tooth 36, preserving natural dentition and avoiding invasive procedures. Autogenous tooth transplantation serves as a viable alternative for addressing tooth loss in the oral cavity, combining biological compatibility with functional restoration.
