Clear Aligner Treatment For Skeletal Class Iii With Asymmetry
This case report documents the treatment of an adult female patient presenting with dental and skeletal Class III, high angle, and mandibular deviation, managed using clear aligner therapy. The treatment strategy involved maxillary and mandibular molar distalization to create adequate space. Vertical control was achieved through the bite-block effect of the clear aligners. The treatment objectives included resolution of mild crowding, anterior retraction, midline correction, and occlusal relationship improvement. The orthodontic management of skeletal Class III malocclusion with a high mandibular plane angle in adult patients presents significant challenges, particularly when complicated by mandibular deviation. This difficulty arises from the typically thin buccal cortical bone in the anterior region, which limits the scope for dental compensation. The treatment outcome successfully established normal overjet and overbite with Class I molar relationship, while demonstrating noticeable improvement in frontal facial aesthetics.
