VDR Polymorphisms Influence Childhood Caries Susceptibility
To analyze the correlation between the polymorphisms of the vitamin D receptor (VDR) gene and children's susceptibility to caries and to propose new ideas for preventing caries in children. Two hundred children in the early teething period were included as the study subjects, and according to the caries status of milk teeth, the study subjects were divided into the caries-free group (dmft=0), the low caries group (dmft=1-4), and the high caries group (dmft>4), and the four polymorphisms of vitamin D gene receptor, ApaI (rs7975232), BsmI (rs1544432), and BsmI (rs1544432), were investigated by fluorescence quantitative PCR using the TaqMan probe. (rs1544410), FokI (rs2228570), and TaqI (rs731236) were typed for single-nucleotide polymorphisms to analyze the correlation between genotype frequencies of polymorphic loci of the VDR gene and susceptibility to childhood caries. Differences in ApaI, BsmI, FokI, and TaqI allele frequencies, genotype distributions, and carrier rates were predicted between the caries-free, low, and high caries groups. To verify that VDR base polymorphisms are associated with caries susceptibility in children, to provide a theoretical basis for the etiological exploration of caries and primary prevention, and to screen individuals with high caries, to move the prevention and control gate forward.
