Clinical Application Of Modified Diagnostic Denture In Complex Edentulous Patients.

To address poor outcomes and multiple pre-insertion visits for complex edentulous patients with conventional dentures, we improved the diagnostic denture fabrication process. Modified diagnostic dentures enable dynamic functional impressions, reducing visits and ensuring better restoration results. Using a self-control approach with 11 patients, we optimized the fabrication of modified diagnostic dentures. Restoration involved three steps: creating the modified denture, adjusting it (including dynamic impressions), and fabricating the final denture. Changes in denture space and mucosal conditions were recorded. Patient satisfaction was assessed via OHIP-Edent, masticatory function via questionnaire and absorbance method, and denture retention/stability via the Kapur scale. Data were analyzed with SPSS 22.0 (P < 0.01 for significance). Pre-insertion visits decreased from 5 to 3. Proper denture space was restored, and mucosal health improved. OHIP-Edent scores significantly decreased (t = 18.550, P < 0.01), masticatory function scores increased (t = -6.980, P < 0.01), and masticatory efficiency (0.786 ± 0.145) matched the average (0.833) (t = -1.069, P = 0.310). Retention and stability scores improved (F = 65.547, P < 0.01). Modified diagnostic dentures simplify fabrication, reduce visits, and restore masticatory function early. This method enhances restoration outcomes and patient satisfaction, making it clinically valuable.
