Dentists’Knowledge, Attitude, Practice Towards Ncdip : A Cross-Sectional Study
The Chinese government launched the National Centralized Dental Implants Procurement (NCDIP) in September 2022. Our study examined dentists' knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) regarding NCDIP, evaluated its implementation, identified factors affecting KAP, and provided recommendations for policy refinement and enforcement. A cross-sectional study in China from May to June 2023 assessed licensed dentists' knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding the NCDIP policy through an online survey. Logistic regression identified factors linked to their KAP. 1,153 dentists completed the survey. The vast majority (97.79%) indicated that they were aware of the NCDIP policy, and 71.18% considered themselves familiar with it. 76.08% believed that the NCDIP policy could influence medical reforms, 75.04% agreed that implementing the policy was reasonable and would help reduce the medical costs of dental implants. Dentists working in private hospitals had a stronger belief in the impact of the policy. 84.40% stated they would prefer to choose implants procured through centralized purchasing, and 69.76% were willing to actively promote the NCDIP policy to patients. 86.99% indicated they would take the initiative to learn about the NCDIP policy, and 80.14% of dentists and their families would choose implants procured through national centralized purchasing. Most dentists understand and support the NCDIP, which is effective but needs better promotion and enforcement in public hospitals for consistent adherence.
