Safety-Distance Between Implant And Tooth In Robot-Assisted Implantology

This study aims to establish a safety distance standard for robotic-assisted implant surgery by measuring the minimal distance between implants and adjacent tooth roots. This study included 194 patients, stratified into two groups based on implant-tooth distance: a experimental group (94 cases with <1.5 mm clearance) and a control group (100 cases with >2 mm spacing). Postoperative CBCT scans (2022-2024) were systematically analyzed to quantify implant-tooth horizontal relationships. During the 1-3 year follow-up period, we administered validated oral health questionnaires to assess clinical outcomes, which comprise implant stability, masticatory efficiency, speech articulation, food impaction occurrence, cleaning accessibility, associated symptomses, thetic satisfaction, willingness to recommend and overall treatment satisfaction. And performed radiographic evaluations using periapical films to measure horizontal bone level changes following prosthesis placement. Both intergroup and intragroup comparisons were conducted using independent samples t-tests and Mann-Whitney U tests to determine statistical significance. When the implant-adjacent tooth distance was <1.5 mm, the marginal bone loss showed no statistically significant difference compared to the >2.00 mm group. The control group demonstrated superior outcomes in three aspects: (1) better speech function, (2) significantly lower incidence of food impaction, and (3) higher esthetic satisfaction (p<0.05). No other significant differences were observed in the remaining questionnaire items . This study demonstrates safety distance between implants and adjacent teeth can be reduced to <1.5 mm when using robotic-assisted implant systems.
