Application Of Dsd Technique In Aesthetic Restoration Of Anterior Teeth
Digital smile design(DSD) is a digital mode that allows us to digitally and individually design the smile of patients by attaining a simulation and pre-visualization of the ultimate result of the proposed treatment. A 51-year-old female patient presented to clinic with fracture of original conjoined crown with all ceramic. Teeth 11 and 21 defect to the gingival margin level and tooth 12 defect margin about 2mm above the gingival margin. After post-core restoration for 12-21, dental preparation for 12-22 was performed. Facial scanning (Shining3D, China) and intraoral scanning (Sirona, Germany) were performed and the maxillomandibular relation was transferred to generate dynamic digital virtual patient. DSD technology was then used to design for functionality and aesthetics. After two weeks of travel smile with temporary prosthesis, patient was satisfied with its function and aesthetics. From that we made the final prosthesis. Nowadays, patients are increasingly pursuing personalization. DSD can not only help us design more personalized prosthetics according to the different facial conditions of patients with smile, pronunciation and no expression, but also make the whole treatment process visual and predictable. Under this mode of treatment, the communication between dentists and patients was more efficient. Considering the high aesthetic requirements for restoration of anterior teeth, DSD should be applied more in aesthetic restoration of anterior teeth, so as to better provide patients with personalized aesthetic restoration.
