A Case Of Severe Dental Fluorosis With Porcelain Crown Restoration
Anterior all-ceramic crown restorations were successfully achieved through a prosthetically driven protocol combining diagnostic wax-up-guided tooth preparation with digital verification via intraoral scanning, ensuring optimal biomechanical preservation and aesthetic integration. A young male patient came for severe dental fluorosis. After the diagnosis of wax type and oral examination, we communicated with the patient and developed a 13-23 all-porcelain single-crown aesthetic restoration plan. After 13-23 tooth preparation, the abutments after tooth preparation are scanned by oral scan immediately, and the amount of tooth preparation is checked in real time to achieve minimally invasive tooth preparation. After the final preparation of the tooth, the oral scan was used to take the mold. The aesthetic restoration was carried out using a 13-23 tooth zirconia all-porcelain single crown. In this case, the integrated solution of digital wax design, CAD/CAM restoration was adopted to effectively solve the aesthetic defects of severe dental fluorosis under the premise of minimally invasive, which verified the accuracy and reliability of digital process in the aesthetic restoration of anterior teeth, and provided a replicable technical path for similar cases. The integration of diagnostic wax-up prototyping with intraoral scan visualization marks a paradigm shift in anterior ceramic restorations - transitioning from empirical techniques to data-driven digital workflows. By enabling micron-level control of tooth preparation geometry and AI-optimized prosthetic design, this approach achieves three-dimensional harmony between aesthetic emulation, functional biomechanics, and minimally invasive preservation of tooth structure.
