Class Iii Malocclusionin Wilson's Disease:A Case Report
Hepatolenticular degeneration is a rare genetic disorder characterized by abnormal copper metabolism. This disease not only causes damage to the liver and nervous system, but also affects the development of teeth and maxillofacial. This paper aims to offer guidance on orthodontic orthognathic procedures for individuals affected by hepatolenticular degeneration while aiding their comprehension of this uncommon condition so that they can pursue suitable therapeutic measures. A 23-year-old male patien was refered to us with skeletal classⅢmalocclusion deformities. He was diagnosed as hepatolenticular degeneration by genetic testing at age of 3 yrs. the patient was treated at a general hospital and had good outcome. After orthodontic and orthognathic surgery, the patient achieved a good soft tissue profile and restored a normal occlusal relationship. hepatolenticular degeneration affects bone growth and mineralization, which further exacerbates maxillofacial deformities. When providing orthodontic and orthognathic treatment, we need to fully assess the patient's liver function and nervous system condition to ensure that the treatment approach is not imposing additional physical burden on the patient. orthodontic and orthognathic treatment is safe and effective for patients with hepatolenticular, if we protect the patient's liver function and nervous system with the patient's physician and anesthesiologist.
