The Correlation Between Tongue Morphology And Position And Vertical Indexes
To investigate the correlation between tongue morphology and position and vertical indexes in adults by measurement and analysis of CBCT data, providing evidences for the causes tracing of malocclusions formulating in orthodontic clinical practice. A total of 173 CBCT image data sets were selected. There were 88 males and 85 females, with an age range of 18 to 36 years and a mean age of 27.6 years. The following data were measured respectively:,S - Go/N - Me, OP - SN, ODl index, U6 - PP, PP - SN, U1 - PP, L1-MP, the vertical and anteroposterior positions, length and height of the tongue. For data that did not conform to the normal distribution, Spearman non - parametric correlation coefficient test was adopted. ET was significantly negatively correlated with OP - SN and PP - SN, ODI and S - Ar - Go. was significantly positively correlated with S - Go/N - Me and L1 - MP H was significantly negatively correlated with ODI and S - Ar - Go SS was significantly negatively correlated withOP - SN and PP - SN,was significantly positively correlated with L1- MP, N - S - Ar, Ar - Go- Me, U1 - PP, and FH - MP ST was significantly negatively correlated with ODI. S - Ar - GoN - S - Ar, FH - MP, and SN - MP, was significantly positively correlated with S - Go/N - Me Within the confines of this study, a correlation was revealed between tongue morphology position and vertical indices in the adults, and they interact with each other.
