Phenotypic Analysis Of Orofacial Cleft In Han, Tibetan, Yi Nationality

The phenotypes of Han, Tibetan and Yi patients with orofacial cleft in Western China were analyzed to explore the racial differences. The patients with orofacial cleft were collected from 2016 to 2024 in West China Stomatology Hospital. SPSS 22.0 was used for statistical analysis, and P<0.05/4=0.0125 was statistically significant. A total of 6472 Han, 1438 Tibetan and 515 Yi patients were collected, including 2903 with cleft lip (CLO), 2670 with cleft palate (CPO) and 2852 with cleft lip with palate (CLP). There were phenotype and gender differences among the three ethnic groups (P<0.001), and the male and female patients also had differences respectively (P<0.001). There were differences in the composition of three subtypes of cleft lip phenotype in CLO and CLP ( P<0.001). Except for microform cleft lip (P=0.019), the rest of cleft lip subtypes were statistically different (P<0.001). Analysis of the site of lip malformation showed the differences among three ethnic patients (P<0.001), but only had significant difference in the left side (P<0.001). Analysis of palate phenotype of CPO and CLP showed that there were differences in the composition of four subtypes of cleft palate (P<0.001). Except for submucous cleft palate (P=0.029), the rest of cleft palate subtypes were statistically different (P<0.005). There were racial differences in phenotype and sex distribution of orofacial cleft among Han, Tibetan and Yi nationalities in Western China.
