Research For Saliva Of Patients With T2dm And Periodontitis
To explore the composition and relationship of saliva microorganisms and metabolites in T2DM with periodontitis, and further strengthen the cognition of T2DM and periodontitis. The patients were randomly divided into a T2DM with periodontitis group (DM-CP group), a T2DM-only group (DM group), a periodontitis-only group (CP group), and a healthy control group (H group). We performed 16S rDNA sequencing and LC-MS untargeted metabolomics analysis on saliva samples from all subjects and explored the correlation between salivary microorganisms, differential metabolites, periodontal clinical indicators, and blood glucose levels. This study was approved by the Ethics Committee of the First People's Hospital of Changzhou (Approval No. CL022H24-01). The results showed significant differences in salivary microbiota and metabolite composition between patients with T2DM and periodontitis and those with only periodontitis or T2DM. Salivary microorganisms such as Centipeda, Lactobacillus, Actinobacillus, and Desulfomicrobium were significantly enriched in patients with periodontitis, which may be related to the occurrence and development of periodontitis in patients with T2DM. Metabolites such as His Trp Phe and Endomorphin-2 may be associated with periodontitis, involving pathways such as the cAMP signaling pathway and Fc gamma R-mediated phagocytosis pathway; while metabolites like Cichorioside F and CDP-DG(a-13:0/PGJ2) may be related to T2DM. This study identified changes in salivary microorganisms and metabolites associated with periodontitis in patients with T2DM and analyzed the correlation between salivary microbiota, metabolites, periodontal indicators, and diabetes indicators.
