Interleukin Genes And Snps Linked To Peri-Implantitis Risk
This study aimed to preliminarily investigate the role of interleukin-related genes and their single nucleotide polymorphisms in peri-implantitis susceptibility through bioinformatics analysis and meta-analysis. Bioinformatics analysis: Using the GEO database, differentially expressed genes in peri-implantitis were identified and analyzed through Gene Ontology, Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes enrichment, protein interaction networks, and immune infiltration analysis to explore how interleukin-1 beta, interleukin-6, and interleukin-17A contribute to inflammatory immune responses. Meta-analysis: Studies on interleukin gene polymorphisms and peri-implant disease susceptibility were collected from databases including China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wipo, Wanfang, China Biomedical Literature Database, PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science before January 1, 2025. After literature quality evaluation, meta-analysis was performed using Revman and Stata software. IL-1β, IL-6, and IL-17A were significantly upregulated in peri-implantitis tissues and enriched in inflammatory and immune pathways. These genes showed positive correlations with pro-inflammatory cells like monocytes and M1 macrophages. Among 23 observational studies, only the IL-1B+3954C/T polymorphism showed a significant association with peri-implantitis susceptibility, while other SNPs yielded inconsistent results possibly due to small sample sizes, ethnic variation, or publication bias. IL-1β, IL-6, and IL-17A play important inflammatory regulatory roles in the development of peri-implantitis; among them, IL-1B+3954C/T polymorphism may be a potential genetic susceptibility locus.
