Integrated Digital Workflow For Lingual Orthodontics And Aesthetic Restoration

Skeletal Class II malocclusion with failed veneers often causes functional and aesthetic compromise. This case demonstrates how a multidisciplinary digital workflow addresses such complex conditions through precise interdisciplinary coordination. A 36-year-old female presented with a convex facial profile, unaesthetic smile, and a history of failed resin veneers. Clinical examination confirmed skeletal Class II malocclusion, Angle Class I malocclusion, characterized by excessive anterior overjet and a convex profile. The patient exhibited gingival exposure and disharmonious smile lines during smiling. A multidisciplinary digital protocol was implemented: Three-dimensional facial scans, intraoral scans, and CBCT data were integrated to construct a comprehensive digital model. The customized lingual system (eBrace) was designed to align with orthodontic objectives, while Digital Smile Design (DSD) simulated the final tooth morphology and smile aesthetics, ensuring seamless integration of orthodontic tooth movement targets and prosthetic goals. Digitally designed micro-implant guides and traction hooks were utilized to optimize force distribution during anterior retraction. And a digital try-in procedure was performed to validate the prosthetic space. Definitive ceramic veneers were then bonded to the maxillary anterior teeth, achieving precise replication of the preplanned design. Post-treatment evaluation revealed significant improvement in both the facial profile and smile aesthetics. The workflow enabled synergistic orthodontic-prosthetic planning. DSD previsualization prevented restorative space errors, while customized lingual appliances enhanced biomechanical control. Digital tools standardized interdisciplinary communication, though long-term monitoring remains essential. This digital approach effectively coordinates functional and aesthetic rehabilitation in complex malocclusion with prosthetic failures.
