A Digital Method For Transferring The Insertion Path Of Rpd

In traditional removable partial denture fabrication, discrepancies between the clinician-determined path of insertion and the technician's implementation often lead to insertion difficulties and extensive adjustments. This case report presents a digital approach that accurately transfers the clinician-determined path of insertion to the technician, utilizing additive and subtractive manufacturing techniques, significantly enhancing precision and insertion efficiency. A 55-year-old female presented with a 3-month history of partial maxillary edentulism, seeking prosthetic rehabilitation. Medical history and drug allergies were unremarkable. Clinical examination revealed missing teeth #14-16, #25, and #27. A diagnosis of maxillary partial edentulism was made. The treatment plan involved digital path of insertion transfer and digital fabrication of dentures. Procedures included: initial impression taking, path of insertion determination, preparation guide fabrication, denture design, guided tooth preparation, final impression taking, bite registration, digital path of insertion transfer, 3D-printed titanium framework, CAD/CAM resin crowns, and polymerized ceramic gingival fabrication. The denture demonstrated excellent insertion, precise adaptation, and perfect satisfaction of patient. Traditional three-point transfer methods for removable partial dentures often result in technician-related errors during repositioning, leading to insertion difficulties. The accurate transfer of clinician-determined insertion paths remains a significant challenge. This case presents a novel digital workflow that precisely transfers the insertion path to the laboratory while utilizing the transfer guide for intraoral abutment preparation. The digital workflow minimizes errors, resulting in superior precise of denture fit and improved clinical efficiency compared to conventional techniques.
