Risk Analysis And Prediction Model For Malocclusion Of Preschoolers

To identify risk factors and establish a prediction model for malocclusion in preschool children in XX City and provide a basis for early prevention and treatment. A survey of 2,765 preschool children (2023–2024) was conducted using questionnaires and oral examinations. Children were divided into a control group (no malocclusion, 1,936 cases) and an observation group (malocclusion, 829 cases). Baseline data, oral diseases, and habits were compared. Logistic regression identified independent risk factors, and a predictive model was developed. ROC curves evaluated model performance. No significant differences in age, gender, or BMI were found (P>0.05). The observation group had higher rates of dental caries, adenoid hypertrophy, functional articulation disorders, poor dietary behaviors, and poor oral habits (P<0.05). Oral diseases, poor dietary behaviors, poor oral hygiene, and poor oral habits were independent risk factors. The predictive model (Y=e×/(1+e×), x= -1.026(oral diseases)+1.125(poor diet)+0.741(poor hygiene)+1.078(poor habits) had an AUC of 0.814, sensitivity of 83.72%, and specificity of 88.57%. Oral diseases, poor diet, and poor oral habits are key risk factors for malocclusion. The predictive model is effective and supports early prevention and treatment in preschool children.
