Implant Restoration In Extensive Tooth Loss With Fully Digital Technology.
Extensive tooth loss poses significant challenges in dental restoration, requiring precise planning and execution. This case demonstrates the application of fully digital technology in implant restoration for a patient with extensive tooth loss. A 58-year-old female patient presented with severe periodontal disease. Multiple teeth in the upper jaw are loose. After a comprehensive maxillofacial examination, intraoral examination, and CBCT, the treatment plan involved periodontal initial treatment, extracting the teeth from the right maxillary first molar to the left maxillary first molar, and making implant-supported fixed prostheses. A fully digital workflow was employed, starting with intraoral scanning of the dentition areas. CBCT was used to assess bone quality and plan implant placement. Virtual implant planning software facilitated the design of surgical guides and prosthetic components. Following extraction, six implants were immediately placed in the maxillary with the guidance of a surgical template, and a temporary prosthesis was delivered on the same day. One year post-surgery, a combination of intraoral scanning, extraoral scanning, and electronic facebow was used for personalized design, resulting in the delivery of a permanent prosthesis with improved aesthetics and function. The integration of digital technologies, including the surgical template, digital scanning, and electronic facebow, ensured a more precise, efficient, and convenient implant restoration process. This case highlights the potential of digital workflows to improve clinical outcomes and patient experiences. Fully digital technology in implant restoration for extensive tooth loss offers a predictable and efficient solution.
