Antibacterial Activity Of F.N-Zno Powder Against S. Mutans

By non-metallic doping of modified ZnO, we successfully constructed an F.N-ZnO powder capable of enhancing the antibacterial effect under the irradiation of dental light-curing lamps and andexamined its antimicrobial performance against S. mutans. This provides a new option for the development of new antimicrobial composite resins. The F.N-ZnO powder was evaluated for its minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC), minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC), and its ability to cause biofilm formation and disruption of S. mutans and was subjected to an RNA-seq assay. 1. MIC was 0.3 mg/ml and MBC was 5 mg/ml. 2. After treatment with 5 mg/ml of F.N-ZnO, S. mutans sap could not form a biofilm, and the biofilm that had been formed was destroyed. 3. RNA-seq results showed that there were 355 overexpressed genes in S. mutans by F.N-ZnO, of which 146 were up-regulated and 209 were down-regulated. GO enrichment analysis showed that the up-regulated genes were mainly enriched in the redox group. We have successfully developed F.N-ZnO through non-metal doping of ZnO, which effectively inhibits S. mutans under light-curing lamp irradiation and long-term biofilm destruction. The main antibacterial mechanism is the release of hydrogen peroxide upon contact, supplemented by zinc ion release, paving the way for new antimicrobial dental composite resin materials.
