Comparison Of Drug Treatments For Acute Pericoronitis Of Wisdom Teeth
To explore the clinical efficacy of POvidone iodine gargle and Xipayi gingival consolidation gargle in the treatment of acute pericoronitis of wisdom teeth. 135 patients with pericoronitis of wisdom teeth treated in Xi'an Jiaotong University School of Stomatology and Xi'an Ninth Hospital from December 2020 to June 2023 were selected. After approval by the Medical Ethics Committees of both hospitals, they were randomly divided into three groups (A, B and C), with 45 cases in each group. Group A used saline and 3% hydrogen peroxide solution for pericoronal irrigation, Group B used POvidone-iodine gargle, and Group C used Xipayi gingival consolidation gargle. The treatment was performed once a day for 3 consecutive days. The VAS scores before and after treatment were compared, and the changes of gingival crevicular fluid cytokines were detected by ELISA. After treatment, the VAS scores and the levels of IL-1β, IL-6, and PGE2 in three groups were significantly reduced (P < 0.05). Compared with Group A, the levels of IL-1β, IL-6, and PGE2 in Groups B and C decreased more significantly (P < 0.05), and Group B was significantly lower than Group C (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the level of TNF-α before and after treatment (P > 0.05). Both POvidone iodine gargle and Xipayi gingival consolidation gargle can effectively alleviate the symptoms of pericoronitis of wisdom teeth as an alternative to traditional treatments, and POvidone iodine gargle has a better effect.
