Virtual Facebow-Based Implant Occlusion Rehabilitation For Edentulous Patient
In this clinical case, a simple virtual facebow transferring based on an intraoral scanner was used to transfer the maxillomandibular relation to perform implant occlusal rehabilitation in a patient with edentulous. A healthy 69-year-old patient with edentulous maxillary jaw underwent immediate implant placement and immediate loading. After 6 months healing. The virtual facebow transferring technology based on intraoral scanner was used to transfer the temporary prosthesis record of maxillomandibular relation and make the definitive prosthesis. The traditional maxillomandibular relation recordings were based on physical facebows and interarch occlusion registrations. However, the placement of facebow and impression-making procedure may cause discomfort to the patient. In addition, occlusal positioning deformations and dimensional changes in plaster can also lead to inaccuracies. The popular method of virtual facebow to transfer the record of maxillomandibular relation relies on expensive facial scanning and jaw movement tracking equipment in the process of installation and matching. In this clinical case, a simple intraoral scanner scanning was used to transfer the patient's record of maxillomandibular relation from reality to virtual, and then back to reality, which is an accurate and effective method. This is an efficient and accurate method to transfer the record of maxillomandibular relation, which reduces the number of patient visits and saves chairside time .In addition, it also saves money on expensive equipments.
