Clinical Evaluation Of C-Root SP As Root Canal Sealers
To investigate the clinical efficacy of C-Root SP as a root canal sealer for chronic apical periodontitis in permanent teeth. C-Root SP is a strontium bio-ceramic root canal sealer that can be used for permanent root canal filling and promotes osteogenic healing. This study selected permanent teeth (single-rooted) from 10-14-year-old children diagnosed with chronic apical periodontitis and with closed apical foramina. Eight cases each were randomly assigned to receive either iRoot SP or C-Root SP as the apical sealers for thermoplasticized gutta-percha vertical compaction root canal filling. Changes in clinical symptoms and the area of periapical lesions on X-rays were compared before the treatment and at 1 and 3 months after the treatment. There was no statistically significant difference in the changes of clinical symptoms and the area of periapical lesions on X-rays between C-Root SP and iRoot SP at 1 and 3 months after the treatment (P ≥ 0.05). The clinical symptoms after the treatment with C-Root SP were not significantly different from those with iRoot SP. Based on the current follow-up period, the clinical efficacy of C-Root SP as a root canal sealer for chronic apical periodontitis in permanent teeth is comparable to that of iRoot SP. Further follow-up will be conducted to evaluate its long-term clinical effect.
