Bioinformatics-Based Study Of Peri-Implantitis Microenvironment And Ferroptosis Biomarkers
This study identifies ferroptosis-related genes associated with peri-implantitis (PI) and explores their mechanisms through immune infiltration analysis, providing insights for early diagnosis and targeted therapy. Gene expression data from PI patients and healthy controls (HC) were obtained from GEO. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were cross-referenced with ferroptosis-related genes. Functional enrichment (GO/KEGG) and PPI network analyses identified key biological pathways and hub genes. Immune infiltration was assessed using CIBERSORT to explore correlations between ferroptosis genes and immune cell subtypes. We identified 29 ferroptosis-related DEGs in PI, implicating ferroptosis in disease progression. Functional enrichment analysis linked these genes to immune response, leukocyte migration, and inflammation regulation. PPI network analysis highlighted key hub genes (HMOX1, FTH1, FTL, SLC7A11, NQO1) with significant upregulation in PI. Immune profiling revealed increased M2 macrophages, activated CD4 memory T cells, and neutrophils, while Tregs and M1 macrophages were reduced, indicating immune dysregulation. Our findings suggest ferroptosis contributes to PI progression by modulating the immune microenvironment. Identified hub genes may serve as potential biomarkers, offering new targets for early diagnosis and precision therapy.
