Digital Aligners With Paoo: Non-Surgical Solution For Classii Adolescents
The purpose of this case report was to illustrate the value of periodontally accelerated osteogenic orthodontics (PAOO) combined with digital orthodontic therapy in a high-angle adolescent accompanied by deep overbite and overjet. We collected pre-treatment data, including intraoral and extraoral examinations, radiographic imaging, and intraoral scans for digital analysis and treatment planning. This 13-year-old girl was treated with clear aligners, and a PAOO surgery was conducted to facilitate lower anterior teeth movement in the interval of orthodontic treatment, because she was diagnosed as thin periodontal biotype and lack of buccal plate. As a result, a significant improvement both in facial profile and occlusal relationship was attained with a safe tooth movement. This case demonstrates that the combination of digital orthodontics and PAOO in permanent-dentition adolescent patients with high-angle skeletal Class II malocclusion can achieve a significant facial improvement without orthognathic intervention, enhancing patient satisfaction and ensuring precise and effective treatment. Digital orthodontics assisted with PAOO can enlarge the boundary of tooth movement.
