Preserving Peri-Implant Tissue Architecture With Immediate Implant Placement
Immediate implantation in a fresh extraction socket is a technically demanding procedure that requires manual skill for precise execution. However, when performed correctly, it helps preserve the bone and soft tissues surrounding the implant. We will present a case involving dental implantation in the frontal area of the maxilla, specifically replacing the central incisor immediately. During the same session, a provisional restoration was created using the natural crown of a previously extracted tooth. After the osseointegration period, we proceeded to the final prosthodontic stage, which involved taking digital impressions at the implant level and producing a custom abutment to retain a full ceramic crown. Immediate implantation is a scientifically supported procedure that allows for the replacement of a tooth right after it is extracted. This approach significantly reduces the time needed for restoration and helps maintain the natural contours of the surrounding soft and hard tissues around the implant. Often, immediate implantation is performed simultaneously with soft tissue and bone augmentation, which enhance the thickness of the tissues. This combination contributes to achieving both aesthetic appeal and lasting results. Our case demonstrates the benefits of immediate implantation and provisionalization. After four months of osseointegration, the implant reached secondary stability and provided satisfactory aesthetic results in the final stage.
