Study On Dental Caries In Children Under General Anesthesia
Information from the medical records of children undergoing dental treatment under general anesthetic is analyzed to provide a basis for assessing trends in the prevalence and prevention of childhood caries. Medical records of children who underwent dental treatment under general anesthesia in our hospital between 2018 and 2023 were retrospectively reviewed to investigate childhood dental caries and associated conditions. Data processing and analysis were performed using Python. The microbial composition of caries in children with severe childhood caries was examined using 16S rRNA sequencing. A total of 2464 children aged 1-13 years with a total of 15483 deciduous teeth were included in this study, with no significant gender differences, and significant differences were found between the oral microbiota composition of children with severe caries and healthy children. The caries-prone tooth positions of the children were consistent with most studies, except for a relatively high prevalence of pulpitis and periapical inflammation in the maxillary primary teeth. The prevalence of deep caries in the first molars was 8.00%, 20.50%, and 25.00% in this study's 200 children aged 6 to 8 years. This study advances our understanding of dental caries in children and provides valuable insights for caries prevention and effective management.
