Rehabilitation Of Aesthetic Zone With Bopt And Digital Workflow
This case report presents the rehabilitation of a patient with poor-quality maxillary prostheses and mandibular developmental defects of enamel (DDE). Utilizing a digital workflow, BOPT, and dental microscopy, the treatment achieved stable functional and aesthetic outcomes at 6-month follow-up. A 26-year-old female patient, treated with 8 porcelain-fused-to-metal crown (PFM) of maxillary teeth 6 years ago, presented a misfit prosthesis at the gingival margin and color. Her chief complaint was the compromised aesthetics of maxillary restorations and mandibular teeth. Digital aesthetic analysis and diagnostic wax-up were carried out based on the facebow records. Low-quality prosthesis were removed under the microscope, and a total of 16 teeth in the upper and lower jaws were prepared using BOPT. Provisional restorations were fabricated based on diagnostic wax-up, and personalized adjustments were made to shape soft tissues. After 6 months, virtual facebow and digital oral scan were used to transfer the occlusion, record the dentitions, and produce the final restoration. T-scan verified the occlusion of the final restoration, confirming stability and no interference. BOPT is an effective clinical choice for primary and secondary restorations, minimizing tooth preparation while enhancing soft tissue shaping. Utilizing virtual facebow, T-scan and CAD/CAM technology enables personalized restorations, while the microscope provides high-precision crown removal and tooth preparation. Combining BOPT with digital technologies and microscope enables a minimally invasive, precise, intelligent, and personalized restoration. This approach effectively rehabilitates the aesthetic zone while balancing functionality and aesthetics.
