Development Of The Work Stressor Scale For Dental Nurses

This study aims to develop a work stressor scale applicable to dental nurses and to test its reliability and validity Based on the Work Demand-Control-Support Model, through literature review, semi-structured interviews, Delphi expert consultation, and pre-survey methods, the scale was initially constructed. By using the convenience sampling method, during the period from November to December 2024, questionnaires were collected through Wenjuanxing, and validity assessment of the scale were conducted 576 dental nurses were selected. The scale covers six dimensions: work nature, management and interpersonal relationships, workplace violence or bullying, patients, work-family conflict, and potential risks, contains 32 items. The overall Cronbach's α coefficient of the scale is 0.957, the split-half reliability is 0.974, and the test-retest reliability is 0.943; the index of content validity of the items (I-CVI) ranges from 0.830 to 1.000, and the index of content validity of the scale (S-CVI) is 0.941; the correlation coefficient with the work burnout scale is 0.786; exploratory factor analysis extracted 6 common factors, with a cumulative variance contribution rate of 68.958%; confirmatory factor analysis showed that the corrected model χ2/df value was 1.374, RMSEA was 0.042, GFI, CFI, IFI, TLI, and NFI were all greater than 0.80, indicating a good model fit. The dental nurses' work stressor scale has elevated reliability and validity and can be used as an effective tool for assessing the work stress of dental nurses.
