Combination Treatment: Clear Aligner And Fixed Appliances(Skeletal Class ⅱ)

This is a case described a skeletal Class II patient treated with orthodontic camouflage therapy. A 29-year-old female patient presents convex profile, a low mandibular plane angle, crowding in both arches and an lower midline deviated towards the left to the upper and facial midlines. Finally, in order to balance the aesthetics and therapeutic effect, the upper dentition was selected for clear aligner and the lower dentition was selected for fixed applianced. Finally the patient's profile was significantly improved and her lips were obviously retracted. The upper and lower teeth were in a good relationship of overjet and overbite. The use of upper invisible and lower fixed appliance may be a feasible method for the class II with extraction of mandibular second premolar when molar need moves mesially. Not only meet the patients’ need of aesthetic, but also to ensure the mesialization effect of posterior tooth. For the low-angle patients, treatment may be difficult to perform as the molars were easier to mesial inclination. Invisible technique and fixed appliance should not be alternative or substitutable. On the contrary, both of them have their own advantages. Using these two techniques flexibly could meet the needs of patients and solve clinical problems better.
