The Clinical Application Of Cyst Plug After The Decompression
To discuss the clinical use of the cyst plug after the marsupialization/decompression for odontogenic cysts of the jaws. This study included 51 patients with large odontogenic cysts of the jaws undergone marsupialization /decompression followed by cyst plug treatment postoperatively in No.1 Hospital of Qinhuangdao City from June 2015 to July 2023.The experances of the clinical design and application of the cyst plugs were summarized. For 51 patients presented above, 29 patients were followed by enucleations after wearing the cyst plugs 4.65 months averagely(4.65±1.52) and the cysts have reduced in size to achieve definitive treatment. No enucleations were needed in 22 cases, just wearing the cyst plugs 12.5 months averagely(12.5±4.50),from 6 to 20months. All the patients were followed up for 6 months. Application of cyst plug after the decompression and marsupialization for the large odontogenic cyst of the jaws is of vital important for successful treatment. Such key factors as the cyst position, keeping fluent drainage, convinent fixation and exchanging of the cyst plug should be fully considered.
