Complete Denture Rehabilitation Based On A Virtual Patient Model
To present a digital workflow for complete denture fabrication using a virtual patient model, aimed at reducing clinical visits and improving accuracy. A 63-year-old edentulous female patient underwent digital complete denture rehabilitation. At the first visit, preliminary impressions and facial scans were taken. Custom trays were digitally designed and 3D printed to record jaw relations and closed-mouth final impressions. The occlusal plane was determined from facial scan data, followed by virtual tooth arrangement and diagnostic denture fabrication. At the second visit, the jaw relation and tooth setup were verified. An electronic facebow and diagnostic dentures were used to capture mandibular movements. A second facial scan was performed to build a virtual patient. The tooth arrangement was refined digitally, and esthetics were evaluated. Final dentures were fabricated using CAD/CAM technology. At the third visit, the definitive dentures were delivered, and the patient expressed high satisfaction with both esthetics and function. The digital workflow based on the virtual patient model reduced the number of clinical visits and enhanced fabrication precision. Virtual adjustments of diagnostic dentures prior to final production improved clinical efficiency and patient satisfaction. This case demonstrates that virtual patient-based denture fabrication using digital tools like facial scanning, electronic facebow, and CAD/CAM significantly improves treatment efficiency and quality in complete denture rehabilitation.
