Effect Of Modified Coronectomy On Reducing Iani During Wisdomtooth Extraction
The removal of impacted lower wisdom teeth often results in inferior alveolar nerve (IAN) injury. The authors introduced a modified coronectomy method to avoid the injury. Five patients with low impacted wisdom teeth were selected from out-patient clinic, all of them were forward impacted low teeth. Panoramic or CBCT images were used to confirm the apical connecting mandibular canal of wisdom teeth. Under local anesthesia, the tooth crown were truncated. The valve was sutured, and the suture was removed 1 week after the operation. The patients were followed up 3,6 months after operation. four patients’ root was leaved the IDN after 6months, the crown was can be seen in the mouth, then the tooth was be exposured and there was no Neurosensory deficit was found .the other tooth root also incrises but not leaved away the IDN after after 12 months .so we need more observe. modified coronectomy method appears superior in reducing IAN injury and could be used in clinical practice for third molar extractions with high risk of nerve injury.
