Compare Two Types Of Implants In Lateral Sinus Floor Elevation
To compare the primary and second stability of two types of dental implants for lateral sinus floor elevation (LSFE) with simultaneous implant placenment. This prospective study involved 60 patients who underwent LSFE with the tappered or the cylindrical dental implant. Implant stability quotient (ISQ) was measured after implant placement and 6 mouths of healing. Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) was taken preoperatively, immediately postoperatively, and 6 mouths post-surgery. Residual bone high (RBH), endo-sinus bone gain (ESBG) and marginal bone loss (MBL) were assessed. Immediate postoperatively, tapered implants had an average ISQ of 70.48±8.02, cylindrical implants had an average ISQ of 55.04±12.47, with significant statistical differences (P <0.05). And after 6 mouths surgery, tapered implants had an average ISQ of 80.83±3.43, and cylindrical implants had an average ISQ of 78.98±4.18, with significant statistical differences (P =0.05). The mean RBH was 4.15±1.48mm and 4.37±1.60mm, the mean ESBG was 10.49±2.73mm and 10.37±2.21mm, the mean MBL was 0.00 ±0.05mm and 0.00 ±0.03mm in the tapered implants group and in the cylindrical implants group, respectively, with no significant statistical differences (P >0.05). Tappered dental implants could achieve favorable primary and second stability, and the increments of bone volume were stable. This indicates that tappered dental implants could achieve favorable clinical outcomes for the lateral sinus floor elevation in the short term.
