Effect Of Artemisinin On Pulp Repair Under Inflammation
This study was conducted to investigate the effects of Artemisinin (ART), a traditional Chinese medicine with anti-malarial activity, on the odontogenic differentiation and anti-inflammatory effects of human dental pulp stem cells in the context of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) -simulated inflammation and its mechanism. Human dental pulp stem cells were successfully isolated and cultured by enzyme elimination method, which CD90 and CD105 were positive and CD45 and CD34 were negative by flow cytometry. ELISA and qRT-PCR showed that the expression of inflammatory cytokines in ART group decreased in inflammatory environment. Alkaline phosphatase staining and qRT-PCR detection showed that in the inflammatory environment, the expression of odontoblast related factors and the number of mineralized nodules increased in the ART group. ART promotes anti-inflammatory and odontogenic differentiation of human dental pulp stem cells in an LPS-simulated inflammation. ART is beneficial to pulp repair in inflammatory environment, and further experiments are needed to explore its regulatory mechanism and application in reversible pulpitis.
