A Bibliometric Analysis Of Cracked Tooth From 2000 To 2025

This study aimed to explore the research status and hotspots of cracked tooth over the past 25 years using bibliometric analysis. A total of 219 relevant papers on cracked tooth from 2000 to 2025 were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection through the application of bibliometric and visualised research methods, using CiteSpace and VOSviewer to visualize and analyze the number of publications, countries and regions, institution, journals, authors, citations and co-occurrences of keywords. The publication output on cracked tooth had fluctuated over the past 25 years, with a significant surge occurring in 2021. The United States maintained a dominant position, contributing the highest number of publications and the highest centrality. The high-frequency keywords and co-citation analysis revealed current research mainly focused on diagnosis, dental imaging, endodontically treated tooth, occlusal veneers and crown restorations, and management. Prognosis of cracked tooth seems an emerging focus for future clinical research. There is no consistent therapeutic regimen for cracked tooth. The decision to treat cracked tooth with direct restorations, or with occlusal veneers or crowns, or with root canal therapy followed by crowns, depends on the severity of the symptoms and signs of the tooth, and on the invidual experience. Futher clinical studies are needed to provide evidence for treatement options.
