Remineralization Of Dentin By Nano-Silver Combined With Fluoride

This study aims to explore the promoting effect and potential mechanisms of nano-silver combined with fluoride on the remineralization of demineralized primary tooth dentin, providing new theoretical foundations and technical support for the prevention and treatment of primary tooth caries. Primary teeth meeting the criteria were collected from the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at Beijing Stomatological Hospital, Capital Medical University. The samples were randomly divided into five groups: nano-silver (AgNPs) group, sodium fluoride (NaF) group, 38% silver diamine fluoride (SDF) group, nano-silver + sodium fluoride (AgNPs+NaF) group, and a blank control group. The samples were demineralized for 72 hours. After demineralization, each group were treated by applying the corresponding solutions to the dentin surface, The five groups of samples were subjected to an 8-day pH cycling process. After the experiment, the following methods were used for analysis: microhardness and color changes. The surface hardness of the AgNPs+NaF group and the SDF group was significantly higher than the other three groups (P < 0.05).Spectrophotometric analysis showed that the AgNPs+NaF group did not cause significant color changes in dentin (ΔE = 3.3). Nano-silver combined with fluoride does not cause significant color changes in dentin and significantly promotes the remineralization of demineralized primary tooth dentin.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the promoting effect and potential mechanisms of nano-silver combined with fluoride on the remineralization of demineralized primary tooth dentin, providing new theoretical foundations and technical support for the prevention and treatment of primary tooth caries. Primary teeth meeting the criteria were collected from the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at Beijing Stomatological Hospital, Capital Medical University.
