HTLV-1–Specific CTL Accumulation in CSF Contributes to Neuroinflammation in HTLV-1–Associated Myelopathy

HTLV-1-specific CTLs selectively accumulate in the CSF of patients with HAM/TSP. Chronic inflammation, primarily driven by the interaction between proliferating HTLV-1-infected cells and accumulated HTLV-1-specific CTLs, may contribute to neural damage in patients with HAM/TSP.

Abstract

HTLV-1-specific CTLs selectively accumulate in the CSF of patients with HAM/TSP. Chronic inflammation, primarily driven by the interaction between proliferating HTLV-1-infected cells and accumulated HTLV-1-specific CTLs, may contribute to neural damage in patients with HAM/TSP.
