Nineteen-Year Evidence on Measles–Mumps–Rubella Immunization in Mexico: Programmatic Lessons and Policy Implications
Despite limitations in the data, this study effectively evaluated the performance of Mexico's MMR vaccination program, identifying critical gaps in coverage, data reliability, and operational alignment. The findings underscore the need for improved procurement planning, harmonized coverage estimates, and robust monitoring systems. To address the existing gaps in immunity, catch-up campaigns should prioritize the use of the MMR vaccine over MR. Strengthening nominal coverage tracking and implementing evidence-based strategies are essential to restoring public trust and maintaining the goals of measles elimination.
