Broadband electro-optic modulation at blue wavelengths in thin-film lithium niobate

Ion-based quantum systems need scalable visible-light control. We demonstrate thin-film lithium niobate modulators operating at 493 nm with more than 50 GHz bandwidth, enabling integrated, high-speed beam control for hyperfine transitions in barium ion qubits.

Abstract

Ion-based quantum systems need scalable visible-light control. We demonstrate thin-film lithium niobate modulators operating at 493 nm with more than 50 GHz bandwidth, enabling integrated, high-speed beam control for hyperfine transitions in barium ion qubits.
