Family as a Sociocultural Reality and a Social-Psychological Phenomenon

At the dawn of the 21st century in Russia, there is increased attention to the study of the dynamics of family structures, caused by the transition processes in the socio-cultural sphere that began at the end of the twentieth century. The change of social systems contributed to changes in the cultural and historical context, which, in turn, called into question traditional family values. In modern Russia, there are clear signs of the need for active social resistance to negative phenomena such as the growth of individualism, increased variability of choice, normative pluralism and value relativism. These trends put pressure on family structures and require immediate measures to overcome them in order to maintain the social health of society. In the context of modern Russia, the family is considered not only as a primary social unit, but also as an institution playing a significant role in social development. The family as a socio-psychological phenomenon functions as a basic group with various functions and classifications in the structure of society.
