A Multiband Patch Antenna with a Modified Circular CSRR in Partial Ground Structure for Wireless Applications
This paper discusses the design and analysis of a compact multiband patch antenna, developed to operate across multiple wireless communication standards. The designed antenna incorporates a modified circular shaped Complementary Split Ring Resonator (CSRR) within a partial ground structure (PGS) to optimize its performance. An FR4 substrate having a loss tangent of 0.02, with a thickness of 1.6 mm, serves as the foundation for the antenna design, chosen for its balance between performance and cost effectiveness. The antenna is meticulously engineered to resonate at specific frequencies corresponding to Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX), Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) bands, as well as Sub 7 GHz wireless communication standards, ensuring its applicability to a wide range of modern communication systems. To achieve precise performance metrics, the High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) is utilized for detailed electromagnetic simulations, allowing for tuning of the antenna's design parameters. Following the simulation phase, the antenna's performance is empirically validated through comprehensive measurements conducted using a Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) and an anechoic chamber. The combination of simulation and practical validation ensures that the antenna design is both theoretically sound and practically viable, contributing valuable insights to the field of antenna design.
