A Charge-Assisted Hydrogen-Bonded Organic Framework for C 3 H 6 /C 2 H 4 Separation
A charge-assisted hydrogen-bonded organic framework, NJTech-HOF-2, was synthesized using H4BTEB and in situ-generated dimethylammonium cations. The framework features enhanced structural stability through interlayer charge-assisted hydrogen bonding and exhibits permanent microporosity with 1D channels (∼9 × 11 Å). Gas adsorption studies reveal that NJTech-HOF-2 displays a high affinity and selectivity for propylene (C3H6) over ethylene (C2H4), with an IAST selectivity of up to 5.16 at 298 K. This material demonstrates good thermal stability and practical separation capability, as validated by fixed-bed breakthrough experiments, making it a promising candidate for efficient C3H6/C2H4 separation.
