Vibration and Energy Absorbing Performance of Sandwich Plates with Corrugation Arc‐Type Honeycomb Hybrid Core

A new type of lightweight sandwich structure with corrugation arc‐type honeycomb hybrid core is designed by combining trapezoidal corrugation with arc‐type auxetic structure, and a solid model of the hybrid core is fabricated by metal 3D printing technology. Building on this, the study examines the vibration characteristics of sandwich plates featuring a corrugation arc‐type honeycomb hybrid core, together with an assessment mechanical performance of the core layers. The governing equations for the sandwich plate are derived using Hamilton's principle, while the natural frequency theoretical model under four‐edge simply supported boundary conditions is solved by applying Navier's method with double trigonometric series. The validity of the proposed theoretical model is confirmed through comparative analysis with computational results from the commercial software Abaqus and experimental vibration test data, and the mechanical properties of the hybrid core layer are analyzed by quasistatic compression tests. By examining the effects of different honeycomb cores, boundary conditions, panel thickness, core layer thickness, cell element angle, cell element length, and cell wall thickness, effective strategies have been proposed to improve the natural frequency of the sandwich panel.
