Research on the Practical Predicaments and Relief Paths of Retired Football Players Transitioning to Physical Education Teachers in the New Era

This paper employs the methods of literature review and semi-structured interviews to analyze the actual difficulties and relief paths of 8 retired football players in Hubei Province who have transitioned to become physical education teachers. The study reveals that the current difficulties faced by retired football players in transitioning to become physical education teachers mainly include: weak cultural and educational knowledge reserves and low professional qualities; difficulties in the transformation of professional roles before and after retirement in the context of the times; and institutional barriers in professional qualification certification. Therefore, corresponding relief paths have been proposed for these difficulties: establishing a specialized training system to enhance teachers’ professional qualities; improving the ability of role transformation for football players before and after retirement to smooth the transition process; innovating the qualification certification mechanism to remove institutional obstructions.
