Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma of the terminal ileum: Case report
Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma of the gastrointestinal tract is the most common extranodal form of this disease. Due to the abundance of lymphoid tissue, the terminal ileum is particularly prone to lymphoma development. The clinical presentation is often nonspecific, most commonly involving gastrointestinal haemorrhage or perforation, while obstruction is rare. This paper presents the case of an 80-year-old patient in whom obstruction was the initial manifestation of the disease. The patient was diagnosed by endoscopy and histopathological analysis, and treated surgically and with chemoimmunotherapy. Despite all efforts, complications arose in the form of neutropenia and urinary tract infections, which ultimately resulted in death.
