Magnetic Polaronic Exciton Emission Modulation by Temperature in Fe 3+ /Pb 2+ Co-Doped CsCdCl 3 Crystals
Transition metal (TM) doped semiconductors hold promise for quantum technologies, yet the photophysical nature of magnetic excitations in TM doped metal halide semiconductors remains poorly understood. Here, we found the emission bands of localized excitonic magnetic polaron (LEMP from triplet) and antiferromagnetic polaron (AMP, singlet) in Fe/Pb codoped CsCdCl3 varied with temperature. Upon Fe/Pb codoping, the coexistence of antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic states is observed. Ferromagnetically Fe3+ pairs produce LEMP emission at 573 nm, while AFM Fe3+ pairs produce a distinct AMP emission at 525 nm (low temperature), as so-called Zhang-Rice singlet states. Crucially, Pb2+ incorporation modulates the stability and transition probability of AMP and LEMP upon temperature change, reflecting the much stronger coupling to longitudinal optical phonon for LEMP. This work reveals the dopant ions in regulating magnetic polaronic exciton behavior, thereby finding more applications in magnetic optics.
